Blythe's 50th Birthday - Story 1
It was a sunny day in July, probably 1968 or so. An innocent birthday party for a young girl named Blythe with all of her friends and her big sister sitting around a picnic table in the backyard. We were eating cake and ice cream. Innocent so far. Suddenly, an attack from the not-so-innocent 8 year old. A plastic spoon and a glob of ice cream become a catapult to her sweet, delightful, amazing big sister's forehead. A perfect shot between the eyes.

My dear Blythe
ReplyDeleteSo many stories to tell, laughs to recount. Here are a few.....my rescuing your slide-a-bogon after it traveled down the hillside a few extra miles while sledding at the McCormicks, baking those silly stained glass ornaments...with most of the crystals ending up on the kitchen floor, Sat. art classes with your worry stone and Moss and the puppets LOL and of course kick the can and tripoli with Janice David and Beth. Welcome to 50....I can't wait to share it with you, and soon with Beth!!
Much love-
Doug
Blythe - Thinking about you on your 50th birthday brings back such happy memories of growing up on Ridge Avenue. I remember so well you and your "gang" - Marsh, Beth, Janice, David, Doug. Although Kathy and I thought of you as pesky younger siblings, the whole neighborhood would turn out for sledding on the golf course, trick-or-treating on Halloween, block parties at the Enscore's, and long summer days spent at the pool. I treasure those memories and am so glad you are a part of them. Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Blythe! I am so glad I got a chance to enjoy your birthday cake last Friday and join in singing Happy Birthday to you. May the 50's be the best decade ever.
