Dear Blythe:

You have brought much joy and friendship to our little movie-buffs group; I hope we can go on and on together for the next 50 !

Congratulations and love,

Ruth

Blythe:

Can’t believe you are going to be 50!!! Where do the years go….I’ve know you since you were a “little ole’” LIS student. It has been great knowing all these years and I hope we work together another 10.

Have a great Birthday…I wish I could be there.

Bridget

Hello there --

Blythe was my first girlfriend in 7th grade. She was (and is) a kind, creative, funny girl and, quite frankly, made junior highschool bearable. She introduced me to Narnia books and I introduced her to glam rock. I saw her again last year for the first time in over 30 years and we just picked up right we're we had left off -- it was a marvelous dinner.

She was a real friend to a lonely, scared little gay boy and her friendship is a special gift that I have carried throughout my life. I will always be grateful to her.

Happy Birthday to Blythe -- here's to another 50!

Love,

still ONLY 49!!!
At the end of a long day at work, I arrived at my car to discover a business card with a little message on the back. Someone had noticed my slim rainbow bumper sticker and used that as an opener. I imaged this might lead to a conversation about coming out. One day soon after Blythe showed up at my office door and there began a wonderful series of conversations about the risks and challenges both at the employment level, but more importantly at the family and personal level, about revealing who she was and is. It was privilege to be the moment in time to help someone else through this difficult passage as almost anonymous others had helped me. I don't think she had any idea that I knew Sally but that made the whole chrysalis process so much more fabulous. I probably pushed a little harder about the realities and the time frames for exposing her truth to her family. All I can say is that I fell in love with Blythe in the process. I admire her courage and applaud her truth and personal path. Happy Birthday. I can't wait to see what the next decade brings.

Happy Birthday, Blythe!

It has been 14 years since we first met when I started working at AskERIC. I
can't believe how time flies. I still look back fondly on my days working at SU
and you are big part of why. I always enjoyed working on projects with you, but
more importantly you were always there to share a laugh, talk a walk, and give
the biggest hugs when you knew I needed one. I didn't realize at the time how
rare it is to find a friend like you.

Blythe, I wish you many, many, many, more wonderful birthdays filled with family
and friends. I am sorry I can't be at your party, but I am glad I was able to
work with you (ever so briefly) this summer.

Let me end this by sharing one of my favorite birthday quotes:

Happy 50th Blythe!!!!

To my best buddy growing up....it is so hard to believe that the infamous crayon candle makers of Ridge avenue are hitting this milestone this year. Here's to a wonderful day filled with lots of laughter and memories and another 50 years of new memories after that.

Whenever I think of all of our highjinks...I always have a smile on my face...so many things we did, and with such class ( can you say MOOOOO?) still think we were robbed of that 1st place prize! IAnyways it is amazing to think that 2 girl scout (shall we say dropouts?) ( sounds better that way!) turned out pretty well over the next 40 years .

Happy Birthday my childhood buddy...wish I could be there to help celebrate with you in person but will be thinking of you that day!!
